Chemistry Lab
Grades: 6th-12th
Teacher: Amy Shuck
Cost: Free - Bring your own Lab Kit
Class size: min: 3 max: 12
This laboratory component will satisfy the high school Chemistry Lab requirement. We will complete chapters 10-16 of the laboratory portion of Discovering Design with Chemistry by Jay L. Wile, 2nd printing. Chapters 1-9 were covered in the Fall. Students may elect to complete their chemistry book requirements on their own at home, and use whatever book they would like. Or students may join us just for the fun of chemistry experiments. Students will need to purchase the companion experiment kit, Discovering Design with Chemistry, prepared by Nature's Workshop Plus so the student will be able to conduct their own experiments during class. Students can also share their kit with a friend in class to help defray the cost. Kits can be purchased from Rainbow Resource, Christian Book Distributor, and http://www.workshopplus.com. All students and parent helpers must wear safety goggles during class. One set of goggles comes in the experiment kit. There will also be other supplies needed for various experiments at different times during the course. These items are typically found around the house or are easily and inexpensively acquired. I will let you know ahead of time. A complete list of experiment supplies can be found on pages v - ix, in Discovering Design with Chemistry, by Jay L. Wile, 2nd printing. Plenty of help will be provided for the calculations in this course.
Note: Spring semester will cover experiments in chapters 10-16. Fall semester covered chapters 1-9.
Supplies: Companion experiment kit, notebook to record experiments, pencil, safety goggles

Drawing Fundamentals
Age: 10 years and older
Teacher: Debbie Corona
Cost: $150
Class size: min: 6 max: 15
In this course we will cover the fundamentals of drawing in terms of mark making and what art is. Students will learn about the principles of design and be able to put those principles to use in their drawings. There will be home work assigned and students will be expected to come to class each week prepared. Success hinges on attendance. With our limited time together the home work piece is critical to the successful learning process. Students will also need to have access to the internet and email. In addition to graphite, students will be introduced to other dry materials and will complete a variety of finished art works. The fee includes drawing materials and there's anon-refundable $30.00 materials fee that I will need as soon as possible to order materials. The only supplies students will need to bring from home will be a printed out photo that they took, scissors, and magazines at some point to be determined. The previously mentioned items will not be at the beginning of our time together.
Prerequisites: The desire to learn how to draw and a good attitude. I will take care of the rest.
**If your child will be taking this class, you will need to sign up with FAITH Homeschoolers and contact Debbie Corona immediately. She needs to order your child's materials. You can email her at carsonvalleyartcenter@gmail.com.
